Who We Are

Edna Aguiñaga
Edna AguiñagaSustainability Advisor

Edna is a Sustainability Advisor for Travesia Partners. She has over 25 years of experience working on sustainability in both developing and developed countries. She has extensive experience with public and corporate sectors and has worked and facilitated workshops in more than 25 countries. She is an associate of the Center for Sustainable Community Development hosted at Simon Fraser University.

Her work focuses on long term strategic planning for sustainability, with a especial focus on companies that have linkages to Latin America. She has specialized on the elaboration of sustainability reports based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) Standards using them as a tool to enable strategic planning towards sustainability within the organization. Edna is the official GRI Trainer in Canada, and since 2017 facilitated the GRI Standards Certified Training Course. She has worked with several companies in the mining sector such as Pan American Silver, Endeavour Silver, Great Panther Mining, among others and with other industries such as The Edmonton and Halifax Airports, Lululemon Athletica and Westcoast Sightseeing.

Before moving to Canada, she worked for the Mexican Nature Conservation Fund and as a consultant in several international projects with organizations such as the World Bank, The Netherlands Water Partnership and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. She also worked at the Blekinge Institute of Technology where she delivered a distance course on science-based approaches pioneered by The Natural Step. She sits on the Board of Camp Fircom, a non-profit that aims to create communities of belonging using nature to achieve it.

Edna is originally from Mexico. She holds a masters degree on Environmental Science and Technology from the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education in The Netherlands and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from La Salle University in Mexico. She speaks English, French, Portuguese and Spanish and has a basic level of Mandarin Chinese. She currently lives in Vancouver with her husband and two children.

Pong Leung
Pong LeungSustainability Advisor

Pong is a Sustainability Advisory for Travesia Partners and a Senior Associate with The Natural Step Canada.  Pong supports businesses, communities and other organizations with integrated sustainability planning and education and delivers hundreds of presentations and training workshops on the theme of sustainability, change, organizational learning and strategy.

Pong has worked with a wide range of organizations including engagements with award-winning clients such as Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Design, ISL Engineering and Land Services, the Landmark Group of Builders, and the City of Williams Lake.   Other past clients include Edmonton Airports, B.C. Hydro, Hatch Engineering, the City of Edmonton, Morguard Investments, British Columbia Institute of Technology, Halifax Regional Municipality, B.C Housing, City of Calgary, the Resort Municipality of Whistler, the Town of Canmore, Lilydale, the Nickel Institute, Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, amongst many others.

Most recently, Pong was Program Director of the Master’s in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability program at the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden. The program is based in the concepts of The Natural Step Framework and develops leadership skills and product innovation.  In addition to this role, Pong also led a successful year-long educational engagement for change agents in the European chemical industry. He is active in the community sitting on the Board of AIESEC UBC and as a member of the Sustainability Committee of the Vancouver Society of Children´s Centres.

Pong completed his Masters of Science in Environmental Management and Policy at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics at Lund University in Sweden and his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta. Pong is fluent in English, Spanish and Cantonese.

Outside the office, Pong enjoys running, reading and spending time with his family and son Liam!

The Natural Step (TNS) Canada is a dynamic non-profit organization with over a decade of experience helping organizations and individuals understand and make meaningful progress toward sustainability.  Travesia’s Pong Leung is a Senior Associate of TNS Canada.

Sustainable Cities International (SCI) is a registered non-profit based in Vancouver, Canada.  With a core team of directors, volunteers and a network of international associates, SCI works with cities around the world to bring about change towards urban sustainability.  SCI brings together the business and academic communities, civil society organizations and various levels of government to tackle urban issues through peer learning exchanges. SCI works on a variety of projects from large-scale planning strategies for cities to small scale urban sustainability projects. Projects are designed in response to the needs of cities. SCI has a strategic partnership with the Centre for Sustainable Community Development at Simon Fraser University to support cities with specialized knowledge and research capacity to advance their sustainability plans.
